Introduction
There are companies that respond to crises. And there are companies that were ready before the crisis arrived. Global Biocare (Pvt) Limited was founded in 2011 by Dr. Ruvan Karunadasa — not in response to a health emergency, but in response to a gap he observed as a clinician: Sri Lanka’s dental and medical practices lacked reliable access to professional-grade, clinically validated disinfectants. The products available were either
inadequate, inconsistently sourced, or not formulated to international medical standards. For a practitioner who had worked in UK clinical environments where infection control was non-negotiable, this was unacceptable.
Global Biocare was built to fix that.
From 2011, the company has manufactured professional-grade disinfectant solutions and household chemical products for the Sri Lankan market — formulated to international medical standards and designed specifically for
the rigorous demands of dental and medical clinical environments.
What followed in 2020 validated every decision Dr. Karunadasa made nine years earlier. When COVID-19 arrived and Sri Lanka’s healthcare system scrambled for reliable, medical-grade disinfectants, Global Biocare was already
producing them. We were not a company that pivoted to meet the moment. We were a company that the moment had been building towards. Today, Global Biocare products are trusted by dental and medical professionals across Sri Lanka. We continue to develop and manufacture to the same uncompromising standard that has always defined us: because in
healthcare, there is no acceptable margin for infection.
